About TŪ TONU - Tō mātou aronga
OUR PURPOSE
We are a multi-disciplinary team of hauora practitioners, clinicians, and educators whom have come together for a shared purpose. Established in Kirikiriroa in 2018, TŪ TONU is a privately-owned kaupapa Māori health organisation. Our vision is to eliminate Māori health inequities within our community, to champion well-being and effect meaningful change in the lives of whānau.
We are driven to transform hauora standards and improve health services for Māori and also other traditionally under-served groups including Pasifika, wāhine, rangatahi and kaumātua. We believe we will achieve improved health outcomes and system transformation for all through the provision of high quality, holistic healthcare services that are underpinned by mātāpono Māori (Māori values) and delivered in a culturally responsive way – that being through the lens and also integration of kawa and tikanga Māori.
At TŪ TONU, we strive to authentically give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and to provide a space where Tangata Whenua can access hauora or health care services in a mana-enhancing way, and Tangata Tiriti can also experience holistic hauora support within a kaupapa Māori environment. We advocate for whānau to remain autonomous (mau rangatiratanga), to have access to a range of options to choose from (he kōwhiringa), and to be guided around self-management strategies through ongoing wānanga and support (he mahere whanaketanga).
OUR FACILITIES
Our facilities comprise a general practice clinic, rongoā Māori clinic, physiotherapy clinic, acupuncture clinic, womens health clinic, community kitchen, two exercise rehabilitation gyms, indoor tracks, sports hall, and wānanga space. We are also currently developing a neurological rehabilitation gym and indoor hydrotherapy facility - due to open in 2023.
